Our Community

Our school community has much to be proud of.  Our list of initiatives and achievements reflects the efforts of the parents, students, teachers, staff and wider community while working under the guidance of Brisbane Catholic Education.   Our Vision and Mission Statement underpins our school goals and actions.

Shared Conversations

At any time, teachers and / or parents may seek to facilitate an interview to discuss matters of concern.  Clear lines of communication are considered by the school to be essential in the provision of the best possible education and wellbeing for the students in our care.

Health and medical problems, learning difficulties, general school concerns, family crises and financial burdens should be brought to the attention of the Principal as early as possible, as these troubles can markedly effect your child’s progress.  The care and concern by all the staff at St Sebastian’s extends to the whole family.

Parents and Carers Engagement

St Sebastian's families work with the school to enhance the learning and wellbeing of students.  We focus on the areas of:

  • Faith – Social Outreach & Catholic Identity
  • Love – Community Events – (Fete being held biennially & an Art show held the alternative year) & Community Building.
  • Knowledge – Ways to support parents to engage with students' learning.

Care and Concern at St Sebastian’s

We all face challenging circumstances from time to time and our school community has always played an important part in supporting the families of our students in times of need. In recognising this, the School and the Parents and Friends Committee have formed a Care and Concern group to assist our families in tough times.

The main purpose of the group is to offer short-term support to any St Sebastian’s families facing hardship, illness or an emergency.

The Care and Concern Co-ordinator works closely with families, the P&F and School Staff to determine what support is needed, then work with our parents and local community to provide that support in a confidential and compassionate way.
