At St Sebastian’s, creating a nurturing environment where every child feels supported is an important part of our Community of Care. One very special member of our school community helps us do just that each day: Lula, our much-loved therapy dog.
Lula plays an important role in supporting student wellbeing, helping children feel calm, confident and connected throughout the school day. Whether she's greeting students in the morning, spending time in classrooms or offering a comforting presence when needed, Lula brings a sense of warmth and reassurance wherever she goes.
Research shows that interactions with therapy dogs can help reduce stress, encourage positive social connections and support emotional wellbeing. For our students, Lula has quickly become a trusted companion who helps make school feel like a welcoming and safe place to learn and grow.
Of course, her impact goes beyond wellbeing. Lula is also responsible for plenty of smiles, pats and happy moments throughout the day. Students love seeing her around the school, and she has become a cherished part of life at St Sebastian’s.
As a school built on strong relationships and genuine care for one another, we are grateful for the positive difference Lula makes in our community every day. By fostering calm, confidence and connection, Lula helps strengthen the foundations our students need to learn, grow and flourish.
