Student Wellbeing

Supporting Every Child to Thrive

At St Sebastian’s, student wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do because we know children learn best when they feel safe, supported and connected.

Our nurturing and inclusive environment is built on strong relationships between students, staff and families. We work together to create a sense of belonging where every child feels valued, respected and confident to be themselves.

Guided by our Catholic values, students are encouraged to develop resilience, self-awareness and positive relationships while showing respect for themselves, others and the environment. Through daily pastoral care, restorative practices and opportunities for student voice, we empower children to grow socially, emotionally, spiritually and academically.

We recognise that every child is unique and may require different levels of support at different times. Our dedicated wellbeing team includes school leaders, teachers, support staff and a Guidance Counsellor who work closely with families to provide personalised care when needed. This may include wellbeing check-ins, learning support, targeted intervention programs and connections with external services where appropriate.

Students are supported to seek help from trusted adults and are regularly taught strategies that promote positive mental health, personal safety and respectful relationships. Programs such as buddy initiatives, lunchtime activities and community-building experiences help foster connection, inclusion and a strong sense of belonging for every student.

Through strong partnerships between home and school, we are committed to ensuring every child feels known, supported and empowered to thrive.
