Celebrating Active Travel, Participation and Community Spirit

Published 01 Jul 2026

There’s been plenty of excitement at St Sebastian’s Yeronga as we celebrate the success of our recent Active School Travel Treasure Hunt — a fun initiative that brought our school community together while encouraging healthy, active habits.

We’re delighted to congratulate our joint winners, Illya and Emily, who impressed us with their enthusiasm and commitment. A big cheer also goes to our runners-up, Adela and Eleanor, who were fantastic participants and great sports throughout the challenge. Our winners received a $50 Presents of Mind voucher, while our runners-up enjoyed a collection of Active School Travel goodies.

One of the highlights was seeing the incredible engagement across the school, with Year 2 taking out the prize for the highest number of entries. Their excitement and participation truly captured the spirit of the event and earned them a well-deserved class reward.

As a school, we are proud to be an Active Travel school, supporting students and families to walk, scoot or cycle where possible. Initiatives like this treasure hunt not only promote physical wellbeing but also build confidence, independence and a strong sense of community connection.

We extend our sincere thanks to Cr Nicole Johnston for organising the treasure hunt and generously donating the prizes. Her ongoing support helps create meaningful opportunities for our students and families to connect, stay active and have fun together.
