Kiss N' Go Zonehttp://www.stsebastiansyeronga.qld.edu.au/Whats-on/Pages/Kiss-N'-Go-Zone.aspxKiss N' Go Zone<p>We have a new name for the Pick Up Zone! it is now Kiss n’ Go. Our aim with the new name is to remind parents this is the area where you car can pull up, child disembarks from the car and when safe to do so, the car pulls out from the kerb. If you wish to park your car and walk into school, please park in other areas in the surrounding streets. It is imperative for child safety that this zone, indicated below by the yellow arrow, is kept clear of parked cars. You will note on Rome St North that this area is marked with a Loading Zone - 7am-9am and 2pm-4pm - 2minute standing sign at each end. We appreciate your co-operation with keeping this clear of parked cars and allowing for a smooth drop off/collection of your child each day.</p><p>It is also VERY HELPFUL for the teacher on duty in the afternoon in this zone to have your FAMILY name printed on a card and displayed on the passenger side sun visor. The Teacher will then have your child ready and waiting at the pick up bollards.</p><p>Thank you<br></p><p><img alt="KissNGoZoneFull.jpg" src="/Whats-on/PublishingImages/KissNGoZoneFull.jpg" style="margin:5px;width:546px;" /><br><br> </p>
Ash Wednesday and Lenthttp://www.stsebastiansyeronga.qld.edu.au/Whats-on/Pages/Ash-Wednesday-and-Lent.aspxAsh Wednesday and Lent<p>This Wednesday, Ash Wednesday, marks the beginning of the season of Lent in the Catholic tradition. Lent is a time of reflection and preparation before the celebrations of Easter. By observing the 40 days of Lent, Christians replicate Jesus Christ's sacrifice and<br>withdrawal into the desert for 40 days. Lent is often marked by fasting, both from food and festivities. At Saint Sebastian’s the students will be focussing upon Lent as a time of journey. In their classes they will focus upon a step they can take to become more like Jesus as they journey towards Easter.</p><p>On Tuesday morning, our Year 6 student leaders will travel to St Stephen’s Cathedral to celebrate the launch of Project Compassion. They will be commissioned in their role as leaders as they work to support Caritas to raise funds for those in need. Our school community proudly supports Project Compassion over the Lenten season. The student leaders will communicate more about this fundraising initiative with you in the next newsletter. A Project Compassion box will be sent home with each family on Wednesday. If you are able to assist by collecting loose change it would greatly help our fundraising efforts.</p><p>I have included a prayer used last year at the time of Lent, as I had many positive comments from parents saying that it was a very helpful family tool.</p><p>All are welcome at the Parish Ash Wednesday Mass at St Fabian’s Church on 14 February at 9am. You are also welcome to join us for our liturgy at 2:00pm on 1 March in the chapel.</p><p><img alt="AshWednesday2.jpg" src="/Whats-on/PublishingImages/AshWednesday2.jpg" style="margin:5px;width:546px;" /><br> </p>
Meet the Teacher Eveninghttp://www.stsebastiansyeronga.qld.edu.au/Whats-on/Pages/Meet-the-Teacher-Evening.aspxMeet the Teacher Evening<p>On Thursday 15 February, you will have the opportunity to MEET YOUR CHILD’S TEACHER. You will receive information about the teacher and the class, from the person best equipped to give it…the class teacher. This knowledge regarding how your child’s<br>teacher operates, manages behaviour, facilitates learning, affirms, challenges and teaches your child is, I believe, critical for you to be able to trust and wholeheartedly support the teacher in the learning and teaching process.</p><p>The night is very important in beginning the journey to build loyalty, relationships, trust, effective communication and mutual support. Please come along and get to know the class teacher, the workings of the classroom and hear from myself and the specialists’ teachers<br>on some aspects of the bigger picture of school life.</p><p>Each class will hold a main session (as listed below). If you are unable to attend the class main session, your child’s teacher will be available in the other scheduled time for an abridged version of the talk. It is important, where possible, for you to attend the main<br>information session. The times will be as follows:<br></p><table width="100%" class="ms-rteTable-0" cellspacing="0"><tbody><tr class="ms-rteTableEvenRow-0"><td class="ms-rteTableEvenCol-0" style="width:25%;"><span style="text-align:left;color:#333333;text-transform:none;line-height:22.4px;text-indent:0px;letter-spacing:normal;font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;word-spacing:0px;display:inline !important;white-space:normal;orphans:2;float:none;background-color:transparent;"><strong>6 pm-6.45pm: </strong></span><strong></strong><br><br></td><td class="ms-rteTableOddCol-0" style="width:50%;"><span style="font:400 14px/22.4px arial,sans-serif;text-align:left;color:#333333;text-transform:none;text-indent:0px;letter-spacing:normal;text-decoration:none;word-spacing:0px;display:inline !important;white-space:normal;orphans:2;float:none;background-color:transparent;">Years 1, 4/5 and 6 main talk in their classrooms</span><br style="text-align:left;color:#333333;text-transform:none;text-indent:0px;letter-spacing:normal;font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;font-weight:400;text-decoration:none;word-spacing:0px;white-space:normal;box-sizing:border-box;orphans:2;background-color:transparent;"><span style="font:400 14px/22.4px arial,sans-serif;text-align:left;color:#333333;text-transform:none;text-indent:0px;letter-spacing:normal;text-decoration:none;word-spacing:0px;display:inline !important;white-space:normal;orphans:2;float:none;background-color:transparent;">Prep, Year 2, 2/3 and 3 - abridged version</span></td></tr><tr class="ms-rteTableOddRow-0"><td class="ms-rteTableEvenCol-0" rowspan="1" style="width:25%;"><span style="text-align:left;color:#333333;text-transform:none;line-height:22.4px;text-indent:0px;letter-spacing:normal;font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;word-spacing:0px;display:inline !important;white-space:normal;orphans:2;float:none;background-color:transparent;"><strong>6.45pm-7.15pm:</strong></span><br><br></td><td class="ms-rteTableOddCol-0" rowspan="1" style="width:50%;"><span style="font:400 14px/22.4px arial,sans-serif;text-align:left;color:#333333;text-transform:none;text-indent:0px;letter-spacing:normal;text-decoration:none;word-spacing:0px;display:inline !important;white-space:normal;orphans:2;float:none;background-color:transparent;">ALL PARENTS to the library for the playground and general school information</span><br></td></tr><tr class="ms-rteTableEvenRow-0"><td class="ms-rteTableEvenCol-0" rowspan="1" style="width:25%;"><span style="text-align:left;color:#333333;text-transform:none;line-height:22.4px;text-indent:0px;letter-spacing:normal;font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;text-decoration:none;word-spacing:0px;display:inline !important;white-space:normal;orphans:2;float:none;background-color:transparent;"><strong>7.15pm-8pm:</strong></span><br></td><td class="ms-rteTableOddCol-0" rowspan="1" style="width:50%;"><span style="font:400 14px/22.4px arial,sans-serif;text-align:left;color:#333333;text-transform:none;text-indent:0px;letter-spacing:normal;text-decoration:none;word-spacing:0px;display:inline !important;white-space:normal;orphans:2;float:none;background-color:transparent;">Prep, Year 2, 2/3 and 3 main talk in their classrooms</span><br style="text-align:left;color:#333333;text-transform:none;text-indent:0px;letter-spacing:normal;font-family:arial,sans-serif;font-size:14px;font-style:normal;font-variant:normal;font-weight:400;text-decoration:none;word-spacing:0px;white-space:normal;box-sizing:border-box;orphans:2;background-color:transparent;"><span style="font:400 14px/22.4px arial,sans-serif;text-align:left;color:#333333;text-transform:none;text-indent:0px;letter-spacing:normal;text-decoration:none;word-spacing:0px;display:inline !important;white-space:normal;orphans:2;float:none;background-color:transparent;">Years 1, 4/5 and 6 abridged version</span></td></tr></tbody></table><p><br>We look forward to meeting with you on Thursday evening.<br><br></p>
