This week, the student leaders launched our collection of items for Rosies, Friends on
the Street. https://rosies.org.au/ Rosies volunteers offer simple hospitality to people
who are often lonely and benefit significantly from just having someone engage them in
a friendly conversation over a hot drink. The students will be collecting donations of
teabags, coffee, hot chocolate, cup-a-soup, two-minute noodles, sugar and biscuits.
Deacon Andrew, who works with Rosies volunteers, spoke to the student leaders on
Monday to provide more insights into the difference that we all make by supporting the
work done by this organisation.
Andrew also highlighted the need to provide fresh fruit to clients to supplement their
diet. We will therefore be holding a “Wear Your Colours Day” next Wednesday, 21st
June, where students can wear their team colours in exchange for a gold coin donation.
Proceeds will be given to Deacon Andrew for the purchase of fruit. Donations can also
be made via Qkr!
