Chatting Children

Our 2024 Prep class have been enjoying the Chatting Children resource they received at their orientation.

The Chatting Children was designed as an adult/parent-delivered resource to enrich spoken language development in the context of rich literature. It complements the Language, Literacy and Literature strands of the Australian Curriculum at the foundation level. It supports parents/other adults to share texts and use language to interact with children. The language activities provide opportunities for children to practice and develop their ability to: understand and discuss texts; share ideas and thoughts; retell events and stories; listen to and explore sounds and sound patterns in words; make connections to personal experiences; make connections between text, images and meaning; and learn new vocabulary.
