Catholic Education Week

Happy Catholic Education Week.

Catholic Education Week is celebrated annually in the third week of the third term. This gives all Catholic schools an opportunity to celebrate their distinct mission and ethos.

The theme of Catholic Education Week 2022 is Communities of Faith, Hope and Love. This resonates at St Sebastian’s, as our school motto is Faith, Love and Knowledge. As a Josephite school, inspired by the example of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, we encourage our students to treat others with consideration and nurture their awareness of their environment and faith. We also foster an attitude of hope in our community.

One way to nurture hope in our own hearts is to bring hope to the lives of others, and our students have shown that they, with the support of their families, are quick to step up and bring hope to others with positive actions and empathy, just as Mary MacKillop did.

As a community that embraces hope, we focus on the positive, which in turn helps us to realise just how much we have to be grateful for. For younger children, their reality is now. Helping them to think of a better future, and what they can do to contribute to that future, generates a positive, proactive attitude of hope and belief in the benefits of being part of a community of faith, hope and love.

Please speak to your children about the activities in which they have engaged this week surrounding Catholic Education Week.
