A Visit from Bishop Ken Howell

On Friday 25 October, we had the pleasure of receiving a visit from Bishop Ken Howell who was spending the weekend in the St Sebastian’s Parish. Bishop Ken began his visit by spending morning tea with the staff and parents of St Sebastian’s. Our school community then joined in prayer as we celebrated our whole school liturgy of the Word, reflecting on the coming weekend’s gospel.

Our Remarkable Year 6 student leaders gave Bishop Ken a tour around the school. He visited a number of class groups, where students shared their learning with him. The Bishop answered lots of questions – the most common being why did you choose to become a Bishop. The students were amazed at the answer. You do not choose to be a Bishop, you are chosen. Much learning was had by the teachers, students and I believe, Bishop Ken.

On Sunday a number of our students were confirmed by Bishop Ken at St Fabian’s Church. They were warmly supported by the Parish Community and had a lovely celebration after mass. Congratulations to those students on celebrating this important stage in their faith journey.
